June 2011 We are to cease direct G30 and G50 chip sales
As we have come to the end of the season it has been decided to stop selling G30 and G50 woodfuel direct to the customer. This will clarify our position as a service provider to wood fuel companies rather than a competitor.
January 2011 ISO 9001 and National Highway Sector Scheme 18
We have been successful in gaining accreditation for UKAS ISO 9001 and NHSS 18. This means that our systems and procedures have been independently verified by SGS, a UKAS approved auditor. NHSS 18 means that we are one of only a few contractors in the UK able to work legally on major roads.
November 2010 Luton to Dunstable Guided Busway
After being successful with the tree surveying project for the Cambridge Guided Busway several years ago, we have now been awarded with the Luton to Dunstable surveying contract. The job involves a BS 5837 type survey with full plotting of trees using GPS
October 2010 Delay for ISO9001
We have had to delay the accreditation process for ISO:9001 and NHSS 18. Our new date is booked for late January 2011
August 2010 New Eight Wheeler
We have added another 32 tonne hook loader to our fleet. The new vehicle will be used for chip delivery and moving machinery.
August 2010 Hertfordshire County Council Tree Contract
We have, for the third term, retained our position on the HCC tree maintenance contract
21st June 2010 Chipping for Woodfuel East
After only commissioning our new Jenz chipper on the 17th we successfully completed our first job with this machine for Woodfuel East. After a rather stressful start ( surrounded by Forestry Commission Staff in hard hats and yellow jackets ) the day went smoothly enough and the machine performed well. The fuel we produced will be the commissioning load for their new biomass boiler and with a moisture content of only 17% should perform very well.
22nd May 2010 ISO 9001 2008 and NHSS Section 18
We have decided to embark along the epic journey to ISO 9001 accreditation along with National Highways Sector Scheme 18. We hope to have obtained this by early Autumn 2010 which will mean not only will our company run more smoothly and efficiently but we will be one off the few companies to have obtained NHSS 18.
22nd May 2010 Purchase of Jenz 561 Chipper
We have purchased a refurbished Jenz 561 Chipper from Westcon Equipment. The machine is a 490 Hp drum chipper capable of producing G30 or G50 Chip at a rate of up to 40 tonnes / hour.
We will feed this machine with our existing 13 tonne excavator using a new grab ( also part funded by Woodfuel East ) which was supplied by Clark Engineering who provided a first class service.
19th May 2010 East Herts Weed Control
After being unsuccessful in our bid last year we have successfully regained the weed control contract for East Herts Highways for this year. With the exception of last year have carried out this contract for the last ten years.
May 2010 Grant funding from Woodfuel East
With a great deal of form filling out of the way we are pleased to announce that we are to receive some grant funding to support our Woodfuel activities. The money will go towards a new large chipper to enable us to produce G30 and G50 chip more efficiently and without having to ‘borrow’ a machine from the contracting side of the business.
I am very grateful to Phil Potter from Woodfuel East for all his help, advice and especially his patience dealing with all my tantrums and despair whilst trying to fill out all the paperwork.
May 2010 Cambridge City Council Tree Contract
For the third term running we have retained our position as one of the four contractors on the Cambridge City Council List.
1st May 2010 New Website
After a whole lot of aggravation our new web site is finally on-line. It has always been my intention to be able to maintain our site myself but I never thought I would have to build the whole thing. Although its not finished with the help of Steve from Databox we have got it up and running. Cheers Steve
